As women we are often pulled into so many different directions from the titles that we wear as a mother, wife, daughter, sister, colleague, or friend. We tend to put everyone else before ourselves which leaves us feeling depleted and burnt out. With The Sunday Series, you’ll receive a firm yet delicate reminder that you need to prioritize the woman in the mirror.

Sis, it’s time to get your priorities straight.
It’s time to make yourself a priority.
In a world where we often juggle numerous responsibilities, remember the wisdom found in Matthew 22:39: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” This verse reminds us that self-love and self-care are not selfish acts, but rather a way to ensure a fulfilling and joyful life. When we prioritize ourselves, we become better equipped to spread love and positivity to those around us. You know what I always say…You cannot pour from an empty cup. Through these action steps and affirmations you’ll have some framework to begin with.
Write the vision
Today, I want to delve deep into the wisdom of a verse from the Bible that resonates deeply with the essence of what I’m going through in this season of my life: “Write the vision, and make it plain on tablets, that he who reads it may run.” Transparently speaking, with my recent layoff in December and this brutal job market–I have had to refocus and renew the vision that I have for my life so that I can remember why I cannot give up. I was browsing journal prompts on Pinterest and came across this particular one below. I answered each question in my journal and it was the “Aha!” moment that I so desperately needed.
Girl, it’s time to tear up the script.
Forget the neatly labeled boxes, the pre-written lines, and the expectations that have become more like shackles than guidelines. The truth is, I (and let’s be honest, probably you too) outgrew those limitations a long time ago. I’m no longer content with the comfortable version of myself I’ve presented. It’s time to rewrite my story.
It’s scary, no doubt. Stepping outside the lines, shedding outdated labels, and embracing the unknown is scary. But here’s the secret most of us forget: fear only prevents us from using our gifts and maximizing our potential. The only limitations are the ones we create, and the only script we have to follow is the one written in the ink of our own hearts.
Higher is waiting
Transparently, lately, I’ve been feeling like I’ve been in a season of stagnancy. As if I’m rowing a kayak on cement, just going absolutely nowhere. Roadblocks in my professional life, my health and fitness journey, plus rising health concerns with my loved ones all just felt so heavy. I know that it’s okay not to be okay, so I started being extra intentional about pouring into myself. After listening to that interview with Tyler, I feel as if I received the answer I needed: “Higher is waiting.” Outside of my comfort zone is where I must go for the life I desire. I have to surrender to God’s plan and not my own. You know how that saying goes: “If you want to make God laugh, tell Him your plans.” When I think that everything is falling apart, I am realizing that everything is actually coming together.
Trust the timing of your life.
If you’ve ever felt impatient, frustrated, or anxious about where you are in life, this message is for you.
If anybody knows, I know all too well how hard that can be. It’s much easier said than done. Sometimes I ask myself “Does the process know that I’m trusting it?!” Rejection after rejection, signs of progress followed by moments of defeat. It’s discouraging, I know but like we talked about in The Sunday Series Vol. 16, you must not give up now. How close will you be to your goal if you gave up today?
A Huge Lesson from Love is Blind: Self love is the foundation.
Your relationship status does not define you and there is so much beauty in trusting the timing of your life. Self love is the foundation upon which your other relationships are built. You are a vibrant woman with a life full of purpose and passion. Don’t let anyone tell you or show you more than once that they don’t want to be with you.
There’s a process before the promise.
Today’s Sunday Series is about the process before the promise.
Each step we take and every challenge we overcome are part of a transformative journey toward our goals and aspirations. In Jeremiah 29:11, it is written: “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” These words remind us that our journey is guided by a divine purpose, filled with promise and possibility.
why not you?
So often when I’m in a room I start doubting myself as if I don’t deserve that opportunity. Imposter syndrome is a mother-shut-your mouth! Monica Guzman, a business coach, gave a powerful speech on imposter syndrome and how it develops, especially as a woman of color. What is imposter syndrome? Convincing yourself that you are unqualified or incompetent, despite a lack of evidence. Who told me that I didn’t deserve to be at that gala, sitting next to the CEO? Nobody told me that, but after being in a toxic work environment many years ago I began doubting myself and being extremely too hard on myself. A toxic workplace will change you before you can change it. I learned my lesson and got up outta there but sometimes I could still hear that voice telling me I wasn’t worthy of certain opportunities and that I should have been grateful for scraps.
